Your child’s first visit

What happens, step by step

Plan for about 40 minutes. Read this with your child the night before, so they know what is coming.

  1. 0:00

    Hello in the play corner

A few minutes with the toys while you fill in a short health form on a tablet.

  2. 0:05

    Meet the tools

Your child holds the little mirror, hears the water spray and feels the soft polisher on a fingernail first. We tell, show, then do.

  3. 0:10

    A ride in the chair

Up, down and back again. Little ones can sit on your lap instead.

  4. 0:15

    Counting teeth

A gentle check of every tooth and the gums, with an X-ray only if the dentist needs one.

  5. 0:30

A sticker, and a plan for you

Your child picks a sticker while the dentist explains what they saw, with any treatment and its price in writing.

Quiet visits

For children with autism, ADHD or sensory needs: the first appointment of the day, softer lights, no music, and a picture schedule we send you beforehand. drg. Maya runs them on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Sterilisation

Clean you can check

Little hands touch everything, so here are the steps every instrument goes through. Ask at reception and we will show you the autoclave log.

  1. Washed and checked

Instruments are cleaned in an ultrasonic bath, then checked under a magnifying lamp.

  2. Sealed in a dated pouch

Each set goes into a pouch printed with the date and cycle number. Its stripe changes colour in the steam.

  3. Steamed at 134°C

A class B autoclave sterilises every pouch. A test cycle runs each morning before the first patient.

  4. Opened in front of you

The dentist opens the pouch at the chair, where you and your child can see the seal and the stripe.

Single-use: needles, gloves, masks, suction tips and bibs. Toys in the play corner are wiped down every hour.

BPJS and insurance

How you can pay

BPJS Kesehatan

Use your child’s BPJS card

Rekah is a first-level dental provider for BPJS Kesehatan. Choose us as your child’s dental clinic in the Mobile JKN app, then book like anyone else. Covered care follows BPJS rules, and we tell you before treatment if something is not covered.

Type the name of your insurer or your company’s family health plan.

Cashless partners in this demo: Lindung Sehat, Sehati Life, Pundi Proteksi, Teduh Health, Mitra Jaga and Payung Keluarga (all fictional).

Tooth first aid

A fall, a knocked-out tooth or toothache?

Call us first. We keep same-day slots for children in pain, and the phone is answered until 21.00.

Call (061) 000 1818

A hit to the head, swelling with a fever, or trouble breathing or swallowing? Go to the nearest hospital emergency room.

If a tooth was knocked out, which one?

Adult tooth

  1. Find the tooth and pick it up by the white top, never by the root.
  2. If it is dirty, rinse it in milk or cold water for a few seconds. Do not scrub it.
  3. Push it gently back into the gap if your child lets you, then have them bite on a clean cloth.
  4. If it will not go back in, keep it in a small cup of milk. Do not wrap it in tissue or let it dry out.
  5. Call us and come in straight away. A tooth that is back within an hour has the best chance.

Baby tooth

  1. Do not put a baby tooth back in. It can damage the adult tooth growing underneath.
  2. Press a clean, damp cloth on the gum for a few minutes to stop the bleeding.
  3. Keep the tooth to show us, and call to come in the same day so we can check the gum and the teeth around it.

Steps based on the guidelines of the International Association of Dental Traumatology.

Questions from parents

Before you come in

Something else on your mind? Ask us on WhatsApp.

When should my child first see a dentist?

By their first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth coming through. Early visits are short and mostly about getting used to us.

What if my child cries or won’t open their mouth?

That happens a lot, and it is fine. We never hold a child down to finish a check-up. We slow down, try again a little later, or book a second short visit.

Can I stay with my child?

Yes, always. Parents stay in the room for every visit, and little ones can sit on your lap.

Do milk teeth really need fillings?

Usually yes. Milk teeth hold the space for adult teeth and some stay until about age 12, so a cavity left alone can hurt and spread. Very small cavities are sometimes watched instead, and the dentist will explain which option fits.

How much will the first visit cost?

A baby’s first visit starts from Rp150.000, and a check-up and clean from Rp250.000. X-rays are only added if needed, and anything else gets a written price before it starts.

Are you open at weekends?

Yes. Four dentists work on Saturday between 08.00 and 16.00, and drg. Daniel is in on Sunday morning for check-ups and anything urgent.
